Fred Sisk Maps Out Success for Emerging Cartographers
Mr. Sisk has dedicated 31 years to ensuring national security through map interpretation
RESTON, VA, February 8, 2011, Fred D. Sisk, Retired Cartographer, formerly of the Defense Mapping Agency, has been recognized by Cambridge Who’s Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in defense mapping.
Mr. Sisk became involved in aerial photographic interpretation through a natural progression of opportunities in the U.S. Army. Throughout his military tenure, he excelled at identifying features in aerial photos and interpreting them on maps. A second lieutenant, he concluded his career with a 15-year stint as a senior instructor at a mapping school. At the Defense Mapping Agency, which interprets maps for the U.S. Department of Defense, Mr. Sisk played an important role in ensuring national security. By educating others, he was able to impart his knowledge to the cartographers who have emerged and succeeded him.
Mr. Sisk holds a master’s degree in cartography, which he earned from George Mason University in 1984. A dedicated public servant, he is an elections officer for the City of Fredericksburg, a member of the board of directors for the city bus system of the Virginia Department of Transportation, a Notary, and a former president of the Civil War Round Table of Fredericksburg. With 31 years of vocational excellence, Mr. Sisk has been honored by Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in the World.
